Blackle
Did you know that an all white web page uses about 74 watts to display, while an all black page uses only 59 watts? I had no idea.
Blackle is Google with a black background.
Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. Read more about it here. If you use Blackle, every time you load your Internet browser you will save a little bit of energy.

I prefer using http://www.Darkoogle.com as their text are green which reduce eye strain. So instead of saving energy from our monitor, it also save our user’s eye energy.
You might want to note that blackle is just the homepage of http://www.searchincolor.com, which has offered web search in different colors since a much longer time. In general, all dark backgrounds on light text are energy saving-less illumination of the CRT-less pixel activation.
